Now citizens can resolve their property-tax related issues online. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has decided to do away with physical applications regarding the property tax.
Applications of various services like owner name transfer, occupier change, factor change, vacant, new assessment, solar roof top incentive, division bill, payment of property tax and name transfer fees can be done online, chairman of AMC’s revenue committee Jainik Vakil said.
The department will be made completely paperless. Those willing to do it in-person or facing issues with online service can go to the nearest civic centre where the AMC staff will upload the complaint. A receipt with QR code will be given to the person and one can know the status of the application by scanning the code, Vakil said. Separate files would be generated for each application and anyone can see it online.
This will help citizens as the system will automatically calculate tax and there will be no intervention of staff. For example, in case of factor change the tax relief is only for one year and then the ward inspector visits the site and extends it physically. Now the system will automatically calculate the dues.
The new online system will begin from September 1 and its security parameters have been thoroughly checked, he added.
